Barcelona striker Aubameyang injured his jaw in house robbery

Barcelona’s striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said Wednesday his jaw was injured during a violent armed robbery at his home but he hopes to recover “shortly”. “On Sunday night some violent coward broke into our house and threatened my family and my kids, just to steal some stuff,” Aubameyang tweeted. “They injured my jaw but I will recover quickly and thank God no one else was physically harmed,” the 33-year-old added.

“The feeling that we are no longer safe in our own home is hard to understand and describe, but as a family we will get through this and stand stronger than ever.”

At least four men broke into Aubameyang’s home in Castelldefels, near Barcelona. They entered the garden and threatened the player and his wife with guns and iron bars, and beat him, Spanish media reported on Monday.

The thieves fled by car after forcing the former Gabon international to open the safe and find the jewelry inside, according to reports. The incident comes as Aubameyang is tipped to return to the Premier League after being interested in Chelsea.

He joined Barcelona in February from Arsenal after reportedly falling out with the Gunners manager Mikel Arteta due to a breach of discipline.


Several famous soccer players in Spain have been victims of burglaries although most of these break-ins occurred while the stars were playing.
